Austin FC Announces Additions to Coaching Staff Ahead of 2025 Season
Austin FC on Monday announced three (3) additions to head coach Nico Estevez's coaching staff ahead of the 2025 Major League Soccer (MLS) season.
Alberto “Beto” Gonzalez joined the club as assistant coach, Francisco “Corro” Galan as goalkeeping coach, and Albert Ballesteros as field analyst coach. Assistant coach Davey Arnaud, who joined Austin FC ahead of the team's inaugural season in 2021, remains with Austin FC in the same role.
Gonzalez joins Austin FC from the United Arab Emirates Football Association where he was the head coach of the state's Centers of Excellence and head coach of the national youth team. The Spanish native of Valencia previously held positions as coach of the Valencia Academy, coach of the second team and fitness coach of the first team of Al Jazira Club, technical director of Al Ain Club, and coach of the Al Nassr U-17 team.
Galland most recently worked with Al-Raed Club of the Saudi Professional League, where he spent the 2023/2024 season. Before joining Al-Raed, Galan was goalkeeping coach at Shakhtar Donetsk, where he coached current Ukrainian national team and Benfica goalkeeper Anatoly Trubin. The team won the Ukrainian Premier League in 2023 and reached the Europa League knockout stages with Galan as a member of the coaching staff.
Ballesteros was assistant first team coach for FC Juárez of Liga MX in 2023 and 2024. Before joining Juarez, he held positions as first team analyst, U21 coach and U15 coach with LD Alajuelense at Costa. RICA between 2021 and 2023. His experience includes spending time in Spain, Japan, Qatar and India, and also as an analyst for Liverpool midfielder Thiago. Alcantara.
Gonzalez, Galan and Ballesteros will begin their roles in January 2025.
