Dave Portnoy was not a fan of Beyoncé’s NFL halftime show
Christmas Day came with a Beyoncé performance worthy of a Super Bowl halftime show.
But one notable sports media personality wasn’t a fan of the iconic singer’s performance.
In fact, Dave Portnoy believes that Beyoncé hasn’t done much in over a decade.
As Beyoncé performed hits from her album Cowboy Carter at Houston’s NRG Stadium during halftime of the Texans-Ravens game, the Barstool Sports founder took to social media to give his thoughts.
“Beyoncé has been LOST since Destiny’s Child,” Portnoy wrote on X about the singer’s former band, which officially disbanded 18 years ago.
The high-production show – part of Netflix’s exclusive slate of Christmas games – also featured appearances from Post Malone, Shaboozey, Reyna Roberts, Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer and Tiera Kennedy.
Beyoncé’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, even came to dance.
Dave Portnoy wasn’t a fan of Beyoncé’s show.
The setlist included the hit song “Texas Hold ‘Em,” but that didn’t stop Portnoy from making his criticisms.
“The Shred line is open for this Beyoncé performance,” he wrote in a follow-up post to promote a call-in show he helps host with former NFL coach Jon Gruden.
This is not the first time that Portnoy has had this belief, since during the 2023 Super Bowl, he wrote: “Rihanna > Beyoncé. Not Particularly Close,” during the first’s halftime show.
Whether Portnoy is a fan of the singer or not, Beyoncé has been a popular figure in the NFL, performing at the 2013 Super Bowl before appearing as a guest star alongside Bruno Mars and Coldplay three years later.
Beyoncé’s husband, rapper and music mogul Jay-Z, has had a relationship with the NFL since 2019 in which his company Roc Nation produces entertainment for the league, including the Super Bowl halftime show.
